It does not include plot suggestions or comments. The proofreading service is perfect for the book that is polished, well-written, and just needs a final pass to check for all remaining errors.

Copy Editing

 

This service includes everything offered in the proofreading package, plus a little extra!

 

We will edit for grammatical errors, as well as for flow, structure, and readability. This includes tweaking sentences when needed and swapping words for clarity, delivering a polished novel.

 

It does not include plot suggestions or comments.

Developmental Editing

 

We will provide a detailed editorial report of your manuscript, focusing on content: plot, flow, characterization, setting, tone, continuity, consistency, etc.

An editorial report consists of a written, 3-5 page document with our detailed thoughts, suggestions, and concerns about your overall novel.

 

We will also leave detailed notes throughout your manuscript elaborating on any comments made in my report.

 

For Example: This section is a good place to insert some character development. Why does this character think this way? How does this relate to her actions and motivations?

 

This service does not include any proofreading or copy editing. No actual changes will be made to your manuscript text.

  • For all of the services listed above, we use Microsoft Word and Google Docs. We use the “Track Changes” feature to leave edits and comments, so it’s easy for you to see and accept all of our suggestions. If you choose to purchase one of our services, we’ll need your project in either format above.

  • If you’re wanting to combine any of our services (i.e. copy editing plus developmental editing), we offer discounted rates!

  • Once editing is complete we are happy to discuss either in person or over a Microsoft Teams/Zoom call.

  • Please note that, whilst we are professional editors, there is always room for error. It is not uncommon to find a few missed mistakes after a pass from any editor. However we use the four-eye review method and aim to ensure that this does not happen.
